Best in class: Aniturri Bhi School wins the First Consumer Classroom Competition
Students from the Aniturri Bhi School (Agurain, Spain) won the first edition of the Inter-School Competition on Consumer Classroom, an interactive website with useful materials on consumer topics, launched by the EU in March 2013. The winning team designed the project “Environmental problems the Earth is facing”, a digital poster focused on sustainable consumption. This audio visual work, coordinated by Idoia Zapirain, has excelled among the rest of participants to obtain the first prize, a visit to the main European Union institutions in Brussels.
EU Consumer Commissioner Neven Mimica said on this occasion: “The winners have shown how a great idea, enthusiasm and hard work can give a fresh perspective and raise awareness about ever evolving consumer issues. The Consumer Classroom is allowing teachers and students from all over Europe to think creatively about consumer topics and share their inspiration and their educational resources.”
A team of 2 teachers and 8 students aged 11 to 13 years from Gzira (Malta) won the second prize with a project called “Be smart, be green”. They showcased different environmentally-friendly measures implemented at the Stella Maris College.
European teachers and students were invited to prepare a video, poster or image using digital devices (phone, digital camera, computers, etc) on environmental issues. All in all, almost 50 projects from 12 European countries were submitted to this competition.
All projects submitted are available here.
