The International contest for young consumers called "Consumption for Life" has been organized since 1997 by the Slovak Ministry of Education.
The contest is open to pupils and students of primary and secondary schools from Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia. The aim of the competition is to improve the students' interest in consumer matters and to prepare them to be active consumers in the market economy.
The students have to create articles on selected topics. They can collect information from magazines, newspapers and websites, and also visit market places, make surveys and interviews in shops, supermarkets, firms, factories, travel agencies and consumer associations.
This year theme is "Advantages and Problems of Internet Shopping". Submissions can be sent until May 9th to: Association of Consumer Organizations Slovakia, Popradska 6, 064 01 Stara Lubovna, Slovakia.
The winning teams will participate to an International meeting in Slovakia on June 9th and 10th and the best teams from each Member State will visit the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
