April 7th was the World Health Day! Consumer Classroom would like to seize the opportunity to underline important data related to food safety which will definitely encourage you to teach your students and teenagers to learn how to recognize safe and unsafe food. Indeed, in parallel to the need for coordinated cross-border action to better face global threats of unsafe food, young consumer education is also a key that needs to be promoted. Today, over 200 diseases are caused by unsafe food and it is estimated that close to 2 million people still die every year because of unsafe food and water.
If you want to participate to this worlwide cause against unsafe food, you may use the following illustrative poster called '5 keys to safer food':
- Keep clean
- Separate raw and cooked
- Cook thoroughly
- Keep food at safe temperatures
- Use safe water and raw materials
