Five habits for safer food
The World Health Organization developed an educational tool to communicate a simple health message based on scientific evidence to train all types of food handlers - including consumers - to safe habits for the preparation of food.
The Five Keys to Safer Food explain the basic principles each individual should know to prevent foodborne diseases:
- Keep clean
- Separate raw and cooked
- Cook thoroughly
- Keep food at safe temperature
- Use safe water and raw materials
The concept has been developed into materials such as a poster, brochure and manual translated into national languages.
