On the 16th of March, European Consumer Day, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) gathered European policy makers for the17th annual conference to discuss new trends in consumption.
EESC President Henri Malosse stressed the importance of working towards a more responsible consumption, both for consumers and companies. Planned obsolescence and sharing economy were also discussed. The European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, Vĕra Jourová underlined the importance of raising consumers' awareness of their rights, both online and offline.
