The Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre (SIC) has existed since 2005. It is coordinated by the non-governmental Applied Research and Communications Fund in partnership with Association Parents. Over the years, the Centre has become widely recognised as the national hub of expertise in the field of internet safety for children and young people providing help, support and education, raising awareness and actively participating in the formation of national policies. In 2015, the Ministry of Interior awarded the Centre for outstanding civil contribution to the work of law enforcement.
Every year, the Centre celebrates the Safe Internet Day Initiative. This year it was on February 6, 2018 with the slogan “Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you” with particular focus on Digital literacy.
