5 Green Ideas For Going Back To School!

3 komentarai

It’s that time of year again when both teachers and students are settling into another academic year. But don’t feel blue! Here are some easy ways you and your students can make your classroom greener.

1. Differierentiated Recycling Bins

Provide differentiated bins in your classroom (plastic, paper, etc.) to encourage recycling and make sure your pupils understand what to put in each one. Doing this at the start of the new term will ensure good habits throughout the year.

2. Paper Usage

Urge students to use both sides of the page for writing activities and award prizes to the students who are the most economical with their paper usage. For example perhaps you could announce a Paper saver of the week/month. Maybe then you can encourage the others to turn over a new leaf!

3. Interactive Lessons

For presentations and lessons, try to use interactive displays and/or blackboards and whiteboards in order to minimise paper waste (a brilliant excuse to demonstrate your Powerpoint skills!).

4. Saving Energy

Put up a sign by the door of the classroom to remind yourself and your students to turn off the lights when leaving. After all everyone is a bit forgetful at times but this way no one will be left in the dark !

5. Sustainability Class

Dedicate a class to sustainability (resources can be found on Consumer Classroom ) and encourage students to brainstorm on how they can be more environmentally friendly both at home and school. This will aso help to reinforce the green habits listed above.

So now you know 5 easy ways in which you can be an inspiring and eco friendly teacher. Love the environment and always make sure your students are keen to be green!

how to resists the marketing links

It is a good start how to train the students as environmental friendly consumers. The next step could be training them how to resist of the marketing and to know a real value of their life.

Eco-Schools

Great idea to introduce 'Green ideas' at the beginning of the school year. Links could also be made to Green-Schools, known internationally as Eco-Schools, which is an international environmental educational programme, environmental management system and award scheme, that promotes whole school action for the environment.

Eco-schools

Yes we definitely agree. Eco schools are a brilliant idea for creating a sustainable environment and encouraging children to be eco friendly from a young age. You might find this resource interesting as it has some information about eco schools in England http://www.consumerclassroom.eu/resource/eco-schools
